Foundation

The Foundation Certificate is a one-year programme that builds the knowledge, skill and competency necessary for undergraduate education. The Programme lays the foundation of basic knowledge in Western and Hindustani Classical music in order to successfully obtain a degree in music.

KM Music Conservatory is proud of our affiliation with Middlesex University in London, England. The Foundation Programme is a possible prerequisite qualification for entry to the degree programme. This unique programme that has been developed between KM Music Conservatory and Middlesex University allows students to complete two years of the Bachelors in Arts (Music) degree in Chennai (Diploma Programme) before continuing to London for one further year of study to obtain the Bachelors Degree.

The Foundation Certificate Programme is currently accepting students in the following performance areas:

  • Percussion
  • Piano
  • Violin
  • Viola
  • Voice
  • Guitar
  • Flute

A student enrolled in the Foundation Certificate programme will acquire basic knowledge in the following:

  • 1st-Study Instrument or Voice in Western and Hindustani Classical Styles
  • Academic Skills and Development
  • Western Classical and Hindustani History and Theory
  • Composition
  • Audio Engineering and Music Technology

Full Time Music Curriculum and Certificate

ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ages: 18 onwards
  • Application Fee
  • Completed Application
  • Submittal of 12th Standard English Proficiency marks
    • Students must have earned a "B" grade or 55% in the 12th Standard English Board Exam.
  • Interview
    • Each student will be interviewed as a part of the admissions process. This interview will examine the student’s intent, background in music and critical thinking skills.
  • Audition
